cupcake plate experiment

I had made several cupcake plates using small dessert plates and short candlesticks, but I wanted to make a couple of them a little more interesting. So I had the idea of an easy way I could paint them. Using a glue stick I lightly glued down the back of small doilies and placed them on the center of the plates. Then all I had to do was spray on a couple coats of paint, peel off the doilies, and spray on a waterproof sealer!

I love this effect!

Also, if you try this at home always leave the wrapper on the cupcake. The paint is not food safe so the cupcake does not need to come in direct contact with the plate.

Now I need to go make some cupcakes for my hubster's birthday tomorrow!

good news

Most of you probably remember the wonderful Domino magazine. Well there is good news for those of you who miss it as much as I do. Brides.com has started posting some of the articles from old issues. I still have all my old Domino mags, but it is nice to be able to quickly look back at some of my favorite articles and images.

Here are some of my favorite images they have posted so far.

enjoy.

bed inspiration

I was just looking through all the inspiration pics I've collected and I noticed that several of the bedrooms are very similar. I guess I'll have to have a bed like this one day. I hope the hubs doesn't mind...

They just look so dreamy and peaceful

teacup bird feeder

I have another totally brill teacup idea to share! I was recently in Gatlinburg with the fam and while we were shopping on the craft loop we ate lunch at the Wild Plum Tea Room. As we walked up to the restaurant I spotted this little gem right away...

TEACUP BIRD FEEDER!

This was a few days after I made the teacup candlestick thing (I need to think of a better name for those) so I was really excited! I so wish I could claim this idea!

I will def have to try this one day when I have a garden!

Also, I was one of the feature picks for Tatertots and Jello's Weekend Wrap Up Party for my teacup craft! Yay!

retro fans

I have a little obsession with retro fans!

It gets really hot in my bedroom so I really needed a fan but I didn't want it to be an eye sore, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I did a little research and I found a good quality one at Target for a good price. This has saved my life and it looks great in my apartment!

These are some other great options for retro fans...

tea light

So I'm sure by now everyone has seen the brilliant craft of gluing plates or bowls to candlesticks and magically creating a beautiful serving piece. But this by far is my favorite!

Teacups + candlesticks = happy time

I found these teacups and candlesticks at a thrift store and thought they would be perfect for a little votive candle or to hold jewelry!

This one is so Anthropologie! I originally made it to sell on Etsy but I'm not sure that I can part with it!

This one is actually a birthday present for my grandmother! When I saw this teacup I immediately thought of her! It will look perfect in her bedroom!

If you want to make these yourself I suggest using Gorilla Glue Epoxy. I can't wait to make more!

craft swap with pocket of presh

I recently did a craft swap with my best friend Natalie! She is a fashion designer and is amazing at sewing clothes! I really wanted a red skirt but couldn't find one I liked anywhere and she wanted to buy one of my headbands so we decided to just do a little swap. I made her a couple headbands and a necklace and she made me a beautiful red skirt!

Here it is...

I just love it! Better than anything I could buy in a store! She did a better job modeling it over at her blog Pocket of Presh! So perfect!

And these are the accessories I made her...

I love craft swaps!

the 4th

This is where I spent the 4th of July...

with my Marine

We went to Greenville, Al with Jake's family. It was great to eat, relax and do nothing.
